Today Google is rolling out a new Google+ feature, Local. ‘A simple way to discover and share local information featuring Zagat scores and recommendations from people you trust in Google+’. Google’s Avni Shah explains. It is also intergrated with other Google services like Maps, Search and Mobile.
Users can search for places to eat using the Local tab on Google+and once they have chose a place, they will get a Google+ page filled with information about that restaurant. It has Zagat ratings, opinions from circled friends, photos and more related information.
Google bought Zagat, a powerful service that offers reviews based on user submissions, last fall and it is great to see Google integrating the service. Zagat’s 30-point scale is based on Food, Design, Service and Cost.
“The more you contribute, the more helpful Google+ Local will be for your friends, family and everyone else,” Shah added. “Whether it’s a block you’ve lived on for years or a city you’ve never been to before, we hope Google+ Local helps you discover new gems.”
Google is currently rolling out Local across the US and hopefully it will come to the UK and other countries soon.
