Google’s 7-inch tablet may be getting even more amazing after reports suggesting a 3G version of the tablet is in production.

According to MoDaCo: “Asus is currently ramping production in preparation for launch in around 6 weeks.”

The release of a 3G option of the Nexus 7 would mean users don’t have to be connected to a Wi-Fi hotspot or router. They could browse the internet or check their emails on the go rather than sat in their home or a restaurant. Downloads would also continue as the tablet would have a constant internet connection.

There is no word on how much the 3G variant will cost but I should think it would be around £50-£100 more.

The Nexus 7 is currently available in both 8GB and 16GB models for £159 and £199 on the Google Play Store.
