eBay, one of the biggest shopping sites on the internet, today unveiled a new logo for the company. The logo itself still retains the same color scheme, but with an updated typeface.
In a post on the site, eBay’s President, Devin Wenig, shares that he wants to reinvent the 17-year old brand and create a new eBay.
Wenig says the site today offers a “cleaner” and “more consistent” experience than before and that the crisp letters in the logo reflect that. Retaining the color palette was important, however, since they represent eBay’s “connected and diverse” community of buyers and sellers, he wrote.
The design of the logo, is very similar and reminds me of Microsoft’s new logo, with the simple and clean typeface.
He also talks about the some new features coming to the site, saying the site would be more personalised, with more local and global features.
The new logo will roll out in October, if you visit the homepage now, it displays the old logo. eBay says that it will also launch a new advertising and marketing program as well.
