Apple CEO Tim Cook has confirmed that Sir Jony Ive is working on a new version of iOS, which will be revealed at WWDC next month. Speaking at the D11 conference, Cook said that Apple “recognised that Jony had contributed significantly to the look and feel of Apple over many many years and could do that for our software as well,” calling the designer “absolutely incredible.”
Recent rumours and leaks have seen that iOS 7 will feature a ‘flat’ user interface which will remove most of the glossy, realistic feel which is currently seen in Apple’s software.
When asked if the new version of iOS is what Ive has been working on, Cook replied that he is “really key” to the update. Cook wouldn’t talk about specifics, but he did confirm that the new version of both iOS and OS X will be shown at Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference in less that two weeks.
