EA and Maxis announced today that they will be delaying the Mac version of SimCity until August to “ensure a great experience” for players.

Today we are announcing that we are moving the release date of the Mac version of SimCity to August. We have made this tough decision because we do not believe it is ready for primetime yet. We want to ensure the Mac is a great experience for our players and that is why we are taking more time.

The Mac version of SimCity was supposed to be released back in February, but EA pushed that date back to June 11th. The PC version however was released in March.

The launch of SimCity had some problems, largely because you have to be online to play the game. EA requires the game to be connected to EA servers at all times to make region play, where multiple cities are connected to share utilities and citizenry, easier.
