The hashtag, one of the biggest additions to internet culture, is now coming to Facebook. The social network announced on Wednesday that hashtags will work exactly as they do on other websites such as Twitter. Once you click a hashtag on Facebook, you will be taken to page where you can see all the posts marked with the hashtag.
Hashtags will bring an entirely new element to Facebook. You also won’t see everybody’s posts because of Facebook’s privacy settings, but Facebook says that hashtags will encourage public conversation on the network. It should however make posts from outside services, like Instagram, less out-of-place.
Hashtags will eventually roll out to everyone, according to Facebook.
