Samsung today announced the Galaxy Note 4 at it’s Unpacked Episode 2 event in Berlin. The phone looks very familiar, but this isn’t a problem as samsung has been slightly upgrading the Note for 4 years now.
Samsung phones are usually plastic, but the Note 4 has a notable metal band wrapping around the device. It still has a faux leather back and comes in four colours; “Charcoal Black,” “Frost White,” “Bronze Gold,” and “Blossom Pink”. The S Pen is back as well that allows for a more precise input. Samsung says that the new S Pen has double the pressure sensitivity that the Note 3.
The Note 4 has a 5.7 inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels that will definetly make the display’s colours pop. It also has 3GB of RAM, 32GB of in-built storage that is expandable via micro-SD. The device packs LTE category 6 for super fast mobile browsing.
The software has been updated as well to take advantage of the new specifications. You can have shrink apps down into a smaller window that hovers over your home screen or another app. You can still put two apps into a split screen view as well.
The 3.7-megapixel front-facing camera has wide angle lens and is 60% brighter to get better shots. There’s a 120 degree wide-angle selfie mode to get even more people into your selfie. The 16-megapixel rear-facing camera has smart OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation) to allow you to get even smoother shots.
The 3220 mAh battery has a technology called fast-charging that can take your phone for 0% to 50% in 30 minutes. The Note 4 also has low power consumption so the device will last even longer. It packs either a 2.7 GHz Quad-Core Processor or a 1.9 GHz Octa-Core (1.9GHz Quad + 1.3GHz Quad-Core) Processor depending on the country.
This new Note includes a heart-rate monitor and a fingerprint sensor just like the Galaxy S5 earlier this year.
The Galaxy Note 4 will be available in global markets starting in October.
